I’m handling some shear-sensitive materials. Are there valve options that can move them gently without breaking them down?

Rotary Valve Features for Shear-Sensitive Products
1. Low Shear Rotor Design
U-shaped or scalloped pockets – These reduce pinch points and gently cradle the product.
Few-blade rotors (4 or 6 vanes) – Fewer contact points reduce compression and shear forces.

2. Reduced Rotor Speed
Lower RPM reduces impact and friction.
Variable frequency drives (VFDs) allow fine-tuned control over speed.

3. Increased Clearances
Wider tolerances between rotor and housing mean less mechanical compression.
Suitable for fragile, irregular, or compressible materials.

4. Flexible or Soft-Tipped Blades
Optional urethane, rubber, or PTFE-tipped rotors cushion the product during passage.

5. Special Materials or Coatings
Polished stainless steel or food-grade finishes to reduce product sticking and smearing.

6.Optional accessories like adjustable shear protectors, often recommended for materials like plastic pellets and sawdust, can be useful to help things keep flowing smoothly.
